Fried Green Tomatoes

This is THE BEST restaurant on Tybee Island!!!! My wife and I were recently on Tybee Island for vacation. The vacation itself was pretty rough, because when we arrived to our rental condo, the AC was broken. Coastal Ga, in July, can be a bit warm, without AC, lol! So, we worked with the owner, and stuck it out, as long as we could, but decided to cut our stay short. We decided to have dinner, on our way out, and Salt Island had been recommended to us. Without a doubt, this was the BEST dining experience that we had on our entire trip!!! The food was AMAZING!!! I had the Salt and Pepper Shrimp, my wife had the Fried Green Tomatoes, Edamame, and we shared the Grilled Watermelon. It was ALL Just OUTSTANDING!!!! Best meal we've had in a LONG time!! We tried many places on Tybee, Savannah, and Hilton Head Island during our trip, and the food at Salt Island was head and shoulders above any where else we tried! The staff was just outstanding, as well! Jessica, the new manager, is wonderful, engaging, and deeply cares about the customers experience. Our servers Emily, and Rick F, were equally impressive! Emily was ending her shift, just as we were getting our food, but she gave us a warm introduction to Rick, and he was GREAT! Very personable, friendly, attentive, and just an all around GREAT guy!!! We didn't meet the owner/chef Ed, but WOW, he knows how to cook AND put a great team together!!! Just a BIG THANK YOU to everyone at Salt Island Fish and Beer!!! You saved our trip! The food was off the charts GREAT, and the service was INCREDIBLE and very friendly!! We WILL definitely come back!!!

This is corn's over-the-top, deliciously decadent cousin, elote who will have you leaving the restaurant dreaming of slightly charred kernels, crumbly queso, and a kiss of acid from the lime. Stop thinking and just order.

Mahi Banh Mi Sandwich

This sandwich was some if the best blackened fish our family has had! Also had the crab poutine and fried green tomatoes. Some if the best food on Tybee Island!

Back for our 2nd year and still a favorite. Brought 3 new friends with us. Outstanding service! Will be back again! Tender, sweet and lots of yummy broth.

Salt Island Burger*

Buttery buns with a perfectly done burger. Crispy edges and the pimento cheese is amazing. The sweet potato waffle fries are the perfect accompaniment.

Beer Cheese Hush Puppies

We also had the Salt and Pepper Shrimp and the Fried Shrimp Platter. All of the food was amazing! Quiet and low key for lunch, which is exactly what we wanted. Everything including the friendly staff was perfect! Thank you for a great vacation lunch stop!

Mahi Banh Mi Sandwich

Everything you love about a good banh mi with a spicy island twist. The tangy slaw and fresh blackened mahi leave you full but still feeling light. Salt is our go-to for fresh, local fare with plenty of GF options thanks to a chef who truly wants diners to have a great experience. It's a must stop for all of our guests!

Fried Shrimp Platter

We are from Macclenny, Fl and camping at Skidaway State Park. We happened to stumbled upon this gem on the side of the road! Holy cow, fried green tomatoes, beer battered hush puppies, fish and chips, Maui sandwich and shrimp platter with huge fried shrimp, fried peppers, fried onion rings and fries... My husband who is the most critical diner a know was impressed!! We will be back!
